The lamp was conceived as a lighting element in symbiosis with the surrounding environment, a minimalist and functional shape that refers to the zen tradition. The external lines are defined by the profile of the body in such a way as to convey a design of great impact that dominates the space with description. The simplicity of the shapes adapts itself to different environments and the high-impact design dominates the space.
The natural fiber used in the realization is universally recognized as noble so that its exclusivity can be appreciated. The precious materials used have been treated through sustainable, responsible and environmentally friendly process.
Traditional techniques combined with cutting-edge technologies. From the production point of view, “Distensione” relies on both traditional carpentry techniques and the most modern technologies applied to forniture design, from CNC milling regarding the lateral cheeks of the trunk, to 3D printing of the details.
“Distensione” is history, tradition, engineering, style, innovation, ecology in the materials, in the form, in the function, in the measures: produced by Thalia in a limited number of 1093 totally customizable pieces, one of the each “ligne” length of its supporting structure.
The mechanism contained in the case of wristwatches, such as for the watchmaking industry, this eighteenth-centuryunit of measurement has always defined the dimensions of the “movement” , the mechanisms contained in the case of wristwatches, the most precious components that identify and distinguish these refined artifacts; in the same way “distensione” characterizes the width of the arch of the supporting structure: 1093 ligne.
A manufacturing movement is conceived, designed, developed, assembled and used exclusively by the brand that uses it, secretly and jealously preserving construction methods and technologies, in order to guarantee that no one can faithfully replicate the components or produce them in mass.
Thalia also imposes strict security measures and very strict confidentiality restrictions on the artisan workshops and to the entire production chain for “Distensione” to preserve and protect their designing know-how and innovaliving assembly techniques over time.
Like every precious objects, “Distensione protects himself, perpetuating their integrity and originality.
There are two elements from which it takes inspiration: a leaf and a curve. The arched shape rises upwards and taper more and more. The V articulated structure and the holes on both sides lighten it, enhancing its profile and design. At the tip it takes on a light and clear peralume.
Conceived and designed to relax in space without invading it, accompanying and illuminating the surrounding furnishings. From the initial inspiration, the project is transformed into geometric perceptions, abstract designs and shapes of great adaptability in modern environments. Lounges, entrances, offices, studies and bedrooms; in each of these situations it is essential to have the right light, both for a practical matter linked to eyestrain, and for an aesthetic matter.
ELABORATION, STABILITY AND LIGHTNESS
The solid wood support base gives the lamp a solid base and the right balance able to withstanding external forces and stresses.
Product development through technologies and software that allow its 3D visualization, its documentation and its technical analysis. In this way, the artificial image processed on the computer simulates the product in a real space.
Through a correct structural sizing, the weight is equally distributed from the tip to the base, and the shape is refined and thinned.
The construction of the side cheeks takes place with the use of templates created specifically to fold them and give them their shape. On the model wooden sheets are arranged and held together by a special structure.
Then we can move on to CNC milling and walnut polishing. Irregularities are removed and the surface is prepared for transparent varnish or lacquer.
Assembly of the previously curved side cheeks and anchoring to the solid wood pedestal.
The latest fittings include the electrical part and the circular lampshade in neutral and natural colors.
